The Competitors view explains who wins the same prompts. Analytics connects Cleo’s AI-search measurements with observable site traffic and branded-search behavior.

Competitors

Add the brands that customers genuinely compare with you. Cleo can then show differences in mentions, answer position, recommendation rate, and trend. Use competitor data to find:
  • Prompts where a competitor is consistently preferred
  • Sources that validate competitors but do not mention you
  • Content formats or proof points missing from your site
  • Categories where your brand already leads and should defend its position
Use a small, realistic competitor set. Adding unrelated market leaders can make the comparison impressive-looking but less actionable.

Analytics connections

Connect:
  • Google Analytics 4 for referral sessions and landing-page behavior from AI services.
  • Google Search Console for branded queries, clicks, impressions, pages, and search trends.

What Analytics can show

  • AI referral traffic by source and over time
  • Landing pages receiving AI-originated visits
  • Pages cited in tracked AI answers
  • Branded query impressions and clicks
  • Pages that rank in Google but are not cited in tracked AI answers
  • Period-over-period changes for the selected date range

Interpret the data carefully

Some AI interactions do not produce a website visit, and referral identification depends on what the browser and source send. Search Console data describes Google Search, not every AI surface. Use these signals together rather than expecting one report to capture the complete journey.
A “zero-click pressure” pattern is a diagnostic clue, not proof that an AI Overview caused lost traffic. Seasonality, SERP changes, and competitors can create a similar pattern.
