How the SEO tab is organised
When you open the SEO tab for a site you see:- SEO Score history — a chart of your SEO/audit score over time, with the week-over-week change. (You’ll see a prompt to run an audit until you’ve run one.)
- Site Health / Uptime — a live uptime percentage with quick checks for Robots.txt, Sitemap, and Sitemap Fresh status, plus an Enable Monitoring option.
- Organic Performance — connect Google Search Console to populate impressions, clicks, and average position. There’s a Connect Search Console button if it’s not connected yet.
- SEO Tools — a tabbed catalogue of tools (see below), with a search box to find a tool quickly.
- Optimization Status — your current open issues (errors, warnings, opportunities) with a Run Audit button and a View Details link.
Agency vs Autonomous mode
The SEO tab has an Agency / Autonomous toggle at the top.- Agency — Cleo gives you findings and recommendations. You decide what to apply, using the tool catalogue.
- Autonomous — Cleo runs and applies fixes on its own where it’s confident, on a schedule. Use this when your CMS is connected and you want Cleo to act without your sign-off on each change.
SEO Tools sub-tabs
The SEO Tools panel groups tools into five sub-tabs by purpose. Use the search box to jump straight to a tool by name. A lock icon means the tool is not enabled for the active site — see Plans and billing.Audit
Broad checks that run across your whole site:- CLEO Audit — Cleo’s all-in-one audit of technical health, performance, and AI-readability. See Site health and audits.

How tools work
- Open the site workspace and choose Channels → SEO.
- Use Agency mode when you want to review findings and actions manually.
- Pick a sub-tab (Audit / On-Page / Technical / Tracking / Off-Page) and pick the tool — or use the search box to find it by name.
- Confirm the URL or page (some tools work on the whole site, others on a single URL).
- Run. Results stream back in real time.
- Review findings. Where possible, the tool offers an Apply action that fixes the issue (often through a connected CMS like WordPress or Wix).
Running a tool: a typical flow
Example — adding alt text to images on a page:- Open SEO → On-Page → Image Alt Text.
- Enter the page URL and run.
- Cleo lists every image and flags ones with missing or weak alt text.
- Generate — Cleo drafts alt text for each flagged image.
- Review and edit each suggestion as needed.
- Apply. If WordPress or Wix is connected, the change is pushed live; otherwise, Cleo gives you copy-ready markup.
Tips
- Run CLEO Audit or Website Audit first. The findings point you at the highest-impact tools.
- Connect a CMS (see WordPress and Wix) so Apply steps push fixes live.
- Connect Google Search Console to populate the Organic Performance card.
- Use Tasks to track follow-ups and Resources → Reports to share results.
When something goes wrong
- Tool can’t reach my site: confirm the site is publicly accessible and not blocking automated requests. If it’s behind a login or staging firewall, the tool will fail.
- Result is empty: the analyser found nothing actionable, or your site is too small for that check. Try another page.
- Apply step fails: confirm your CMS credentials in the site’s settings and try again.
- Tool is locked (🔒): it’s not included in your plan. See Plans and billing.
