Site Health is where you measure and fix the technical, on-page, and AI-readiness state of your site. Cleo gives you two complementary audits under SEO → Audit:
  • CLEO Audit — Cleo’s all-in-one audit, scoring how ready your site is for both search and AI engines.
  • Website Audit — a full crawl-based SEO audit.

Cleo Audit

Cleo Audit crawls your site and gives you a single, prioritised picture of its health. (It was previously called “AI Readability”.)

Run a Cleo Audit

  1. Open the site workspace and choose SEO → Audit → CLEO Audit.
  2. Click Run Audit. The crawl runs and results stream in.
  3. Review the report.

What the report shows

  • Cleo Audit Score — an overall score out of 100 with a Good / Fair / Poor label.
  • Headline stats — Issues Detected, Pages Crawled, and Errors.
  • Category scores — per-area scores for the things that decide whether engines can read and trust your site: Crawler Access, JS Rendering, Structured Data, Content Quality, Content Size, llms.txt & Meta, plus AI Search Presence, Links & Navigation, and Performance (Core Web Vitals).
  • Deep Insights — a single issues table with every finding, grouped by category. Each row expands to show the affected pages, the impact, and a step-by-step fix.
  • Pages — the pages that were crawled.
  • Robots & Sitemaprobots.txt and sitemap validation.

Work with past scans

  • History — re-open any past scan as a read-only snapshot, then click Back to latest to return.
  • Refresh — re-run the latest scan.
  • Export — download the report as CSV or PDF.

Website Audit

The Website Audit is a crawl-based SEO audit focused on the classic on-page and technical checks.

Run a website audit

  1. Open the site workspace and choose SEO → Audit → Website Audit.
  2. Confirm the site URL.
  3. Click Run. The audit crawls your site and runs every relevant check. Findings stream in — you can start reviewing while it completes.
A first audit may take a few minutes depending on site size.

What the audit checks

  • On-page — titles, meta descriptions, H1s and heading order, canonical tags, image alt text.
  • Technical — robots and indexing, broken links, redirect chains, sitemap health, schema validity.
  • Mobile — viewport setup, tap targets, font sizing, layout shifts.
  • Performance — Core Web Vitals (LCP, INP, CLS) and other speed signals.
  • Content — missing or thin pages, duplicates, missing internal links.
Each finding has a severity (Critical, Warning, or Info), a category, a description, a recommended fix, and — where applicable — an Apply button that pushes the fix to your CMS.

Read the report

The report is grouped by category. Filter by severity to focus on Critical and Warning items first. For each item you can open the affected URL, see the technical detail, and take action: apply, ignore, or send to Tasks.

Send findings to Tasks

If a finding needs follow-up by a teammate, add it to Tasks for that site. It then appears in the site’s Tasks view with the original context attached.

Targeted health tools

Run individual checks when you want quick, focused output:
  • Mobile Usability — only checks mobile rendering issues.
  • Page Speed / Core Web Vitals — speed signals only.
  • Crawl Stats — recent crawl behaviour.
  • Sitemap Submit — validates the sitemap and reports indexing.
  • Broken links — surfaced by the Website Audit and Cleo Audit.
These are faster than a full audit and useful for re-checking after a fix.

Re-run an audit

After applying fixes, re-run the audit to confirm the issues are resolved. Findings that were previously Critical may move to Warning or disappear. Cleo keeps a history of recent runs so you can track health over time.

How often to audit

  • Weekly — a focused page-speed and broken-link sweep.
  • Monthly — a full Cleo Audit / Website Audit.
  • After any major change — site migrations, theme/template changes, large content batches, structural redesigns.

Common issues and what they mean

  • Missing H1 — the page has no top-level heading. Add one that describes the page’s primary topic.
  • Title too long — search engines truncate long titles. Aim for around 50–60 characters.
  • Multiple canonical tags — engines may pick the wrong canonical. Keep only one.
  • Broken internal link — a link on your site points to a 404. Fix the target URL or the link.
  • Robots blocking a page — the page is excluded by robots.txt or a noindex tag. Confirm whether that’s intentional.
  • Low crawler access / JS rendering — AI engines and crawlers can’t read key content because it depends on JavaScript or is blocked. Make important content available in the initial HTML.
  • Slow LCP — the largest content element loads too slowly. Often a hero image that needs optimising.
  • Layout shift (CLS) — content moves while the page loads. Often missing image dimensions or late-loading fonts.

When the audit cannot complete

  • Your site blocks crawlers — allow Cleo’s crawler or temporarily open access.
  • Your site is behind authentication — audits run only against publicly reachable pages.
  • The site is very large — audits may sample. Re-run later or contact the Cleo team for large-site planning.
